Recently, the appearance of Firefox has changed. As a result of this, the Folders in the Bookmark Toolbar no longer stand out. Also, within the folders, the subfolders of the folders no longer stand out

Previously, all folders in the Bookmark toolbar had a yellow colour, which made them easy to spot within the toolbar. Because of that, I organised all my Bookmarks in a structure of folders and subfolders. It was very easy to find the bookmarks, because the folders and subfolders were very easy to navigate.

After the recent change, it has become much more difficult to spot the folders between the bookmarks on the Bookmarks Toolbar. And within the folders, it has become much more difficult to spot the subfolders between the bookmarks in the folder.

Is there an easy way to make the folders and subfolders stand out again in FireFox? Or should I rearrange my complete bookmark structure to make FireFox usable again (until the next update) ? Or should I switch to another browser as my Standard internet browser for the next couple of years?

oh sorry i misread - at the moment the only way to achieve this is through a userChrome.css file in your profile which is able to style all elements of the browser. the second example at https://www.userchrome.org/what-is-userchrome-css.html covers colouring the bookmarks folder. and more information about how to create/use that file is available at https://www.userchrome.org/how-create-userchrome-css.html

hi, the following steps should get you back to the bookmarking structure you're familiar with :))

  • click on the 57 library icon library icon and go to bookmarks > bookmarking tools > add bookmarks menu to the toolbar.
  • now when you click the Bookmark Menu icon (star on tray) icon that's newly appearing on the toolbar, you'll get to the same bookmarks menu like in earlier versions...

Sorry, that doesn't help.

The problem is not about the bookmarks menu, but about the usability of the Bookmarks Toolbar itself.

Since the recent change, the folders on the Bookmarks Toolbar all have a grayish colour, just like the bookmarks. This makes it difficult to navigate to the bookmark I'm looking for. And that makes the Bookmark Toolbar less usable.
