Firefox Only Keeps Today's & Yesterday's Browsing History

Using Firefox 56.0 (I don't like 57.0 Optimum, and will not change.), Firefox only keeps TODAY and YESTERDAY Browsing History. Again it only keeps TODAY and YESTERDAY browsing history. It's not deleting history upon closing out Firefox---it just doesn't keep more than a day's worth of browsing history. At strike of Midnight  each night Browsing history cleans out/changes upon opening a new Firefox browsing session what should be seen in history many days BUT only keeps Day 2 (Yesterday) and Day 1 (Today, new day).

I copied Places.sqlite file on from my desktop (Win 7)  on to my Surface 3 tablet that has FF 56.0 and no issues...I can see several days history. Happens only desktop system.

I have done virtually everything possible:

-My settings are are proper to Remember History, UNCHECKED Private Browsing Mode

-Deleted and replaced  Places.sqlite

-Renamed Places.sqlite (old and installed a new  Places.sqlite)

-Right-mouse clicked on  Places.sqlite to make sure it's not Read-only

-Wiped out all traces of Firefox 56.0 and reinstalled FF 56.0

-Downloaded the Add-on Maintenance Fix-Repair  Places.sqlite

-Made sure Norton 360 Security recognizes Firefox browsing (and temporarily disabled it right before midnight to see if that did anything -- not the a issue/cause).

-No Cleaner types are running

Again, this occurs at Midnight. I tried  testing to change my system clock to Midnight during the day for a moment to see what happens when system strikes midnight and when I open browsing history it sets everything to a new Day 1 and Yesterday (which is actually still current day) like it does at night.

Maybe Something fishy is going on most likely in my About:Config that has to do with browser history and change of date.

Please note, I've seen nearly all the Firefox link fixes for this issue and other posts but nothing precisely that is like my issue. This is not an issue where there's an improper settings issue. Been through all that.

Thanks for any wise insightful help.

Profile data can be removed or not recorded several ways;

  • 1) Running Firefox in Private Mode (nothing is recorded)
  • 2) Privacy settings; (In the address bar, type about:preferences#privacy<enter>)
  • 3) Many disk cleaners and anti-virus type programs can remove data from browsers. Open their settings and have them leave the browsers alone.
  • 4) Mal-ware.

Thanks but I already listed these possible causes which I have already checked into in my original complaint. Read my issue if you could again. Thanks.

Thanks Fred. I should have added this to my original post in my list of all the attempted fixes. Restoring Firefox was one of the first things I did.

My issue seems to be more sophisticated than the standard rudimentary /typical fixes for this issue that I have read in various posts. I have a feeling this has to do with something in in the about:config setting. There is something amiss here when the system clock / new day strikes midnight to a new day where Firefox refuses, in a way, does not allow any previous browsing history DAYS to be saved other than "Yesterday" and Today" (i.e., there's no Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs etc. -- just "Yesterday "and "Today").
