Thunderbird Not Responding When Deleting a Message
I am running Thunderbird 52.8.0 (32-bit) in Windows 7 Professional. When I have not gone to the Thunderbird window in a while (maybe a few minutes), and I then read a mail message and want to delete it, Thunderbird goes into a "not responding" state for 15-60 seconds before the mail message is deleted. If I read another message immediately and delete it, there is no wait for the deletion. What is happening? I have no idea what causes Windows 7 to mark a window "not responding"; I asked on a MS TechNet forum, and no one could give me an answer. Without knowing what causes "not responding", I have no idea how to tune my Windows 7 to eliminate these conditions. Thanks.

What is your anti-virus software?
My AV is MSE. I also have Spybot Search & Destroy and Webroot Secure Anywhere installed. I do not know if the later two interface with e-mail.
it is not an interface with email, it is more likely an interface/interference with the actual file the mail is stored in. These can grow to many gigabyte in size and typically virus scanners need around 10 minutes per GB to scan files. Folders never shrink unless you compact them (it is on the right click menu) but grow with each mail placd in them by the size of the email. What that means is your file could be huge and only have 2 emails in it.
Right click the folder you are deleting mail from.select properties. What is the size on disk.
I would suggest excluding the entire Thunderbird profile from webroot as well.
