What OS are you using?

What version of Thunderbird are you using ?

What theme are you using dark or light or any other?

What setting do you have here:

  • If Windows OS : Menu app icon > Options > Options > Display > 'Formatting' tab
  • If MAC OS: Thunderbird > Preferences > Display > 'Formatting' tab
  • click on 'Colours...' button.
