Deleting a URL in address bar
I want to delete a URL in my address bar. I have followed the instructions on a Mozilla support page but that does not work.
These are the instructions I have followed:
Clearing a single item from the address bar history
To clear a single item in the address bar history, click the drop-down arrow in the address bar.
show history address bar 57
Press the ↓ down arrow key or move the mouse, to highlight the entry to delete.
To clear the highlighted item, hold down the Shift key and press Delete on your keyboard.
---
Nothing happens when I follow these instructions.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks very much.

Hi richsprt, that description probably needs an update since the drop-down arrow no longer exists in Firefox 76, at least as far as I can tell. (I submitted a proposed revision, so if it looks different in coming days, you're not going crazy, it changed.)
So when does the unwanted item appear in the drop-down? For example, while you are entering text, as a match from history, or when you first click in the bar before you've started entering a search or address?
If it's when you first click in the bar, Firefox usually will show you your first eight Top Sites from the Firefox Home / new tab page. To modify that list, you can open the Firefox Home / new tab page and edit there. More info in this article: Customize your Firefox New Tab page.
Does that let you get rid of the unwanted item(s)?
