corrupted inbox
My default inbox craig@noddypeak.com has no trash folder. I'm not sure deleted files are, but they are gone from my inbox.

Without uninstalling, reinstall TB(https://www.thunderbird.net/). You won't lose any mail or settings.
If still no trash folder, try a new profile (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-thunderbird-profiles).
