How can I uninstall the Freeze.com NetAssistant add-on please? It will not uninstall in Safe-mode, it's not in \Profiles\i2szmemp.default\extensions and I can't find on the C:\ drive to remove. Can anyone help please?

Running Firefox 3.6.13 on MS XP, Home Edition, version 2002, Service Pack 3. Somehow, I started getting Yahoo Search screen on opening a new tab, I don't know how this happened - maybe I was not as diligent as I should have been on installing something and Yahoo 'sneaked in'. So, looking on Firefox support I followed the following tip: (1) Select Firefox Tools; (2) Select Add-ons; (3) Uninstall Yahoo Toolbar; (4) Disabled Freeze.com NetAssistant. However, I'd now like to remove Freeze.com NetAssistant from my add-ons list but cannot as the Uninstall button is 'greyed-out'.

This add-on appears to be installed by using an external installer, that means you should be able to uninstall it by using the Windows control panel. For details of accessing the add-remove programs in Windows XP see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307895

Thanks for your super quick response. Apologies, I should have mentioned that I had tried that avenue (Control Panel\Add or Remove Programs) as well without any joy. Any other suggestions please? Thanks again.

NetAssistant is uninstalled through the control panel.

Start\Control Panel\Add or Remove Programs

If it's not removed that way, Freeze.com offers a removal tool at: http://dl2.cdn2-downloads.com/support/myfreeze_removaltool.exe

Thanks very much for the link to the removal tool but sadly it didn't work. I tried running the tool with Freeze.com NetAssistant enabled and disabled but it hasn't shifted it from the Add-Ons list. Thanks again for your help though.

DOWNLOAD "UNINSTALL TOOL" THAT IS THE NAME OF IT. IT WILL GET RID OF ANYTHING YOU WANT. THEN FOR FILES THAT ARE LOCKED THAT YOU CAN'T DELETE, DOWNLOAD "UNLOCKER" INSTALL IT AND THEN RIGHT CLICK ON THE FILE AND SELECT UNLOCKER THEN DELETE.

I removed this w/ revo uninstaller. It is in the menu under "Net Assistant" not Freeze. The same may be true for Windows add/remove, but I'm not a big fan of Microsoft, so I don't use a lot of their stuff. Is it possible to prevent the submission of add-0ns/extensions that cannot be removed/uninstalled. I'm leery of anything that I can't remove.

Run Chrome. I am ditching FF because of the Yahoo tab thief and this [profanity] Net Assistant. Why can't FF fix this [profanity] horse [explitive] ?

I made a copy of my registry file (Computer --> OS (C:) --> Windows -->regedit.exe, so that if I accidentally messed up the registry, I could rename my copied version to regedit.exe again. You can also create a System Restore point before changing the registry file.

So, then I clicked on the regedit.exe and did a EDIT --> FIND (or FIND NEXT, if needed) and searched on freeze.com. When it came up, I deleted the folder it found using EDIT --> DELETE.

Maybe that will help you. I am not a "techie," so PLEASE CHECK WITH OTHERS before messing around with the registry file or make sure you have made a copy of the registry file.
