Click in the toolbar, go to "Customize" and drag the 'History' button to the toolbar where you want it.

I have not made myself clear. Yes, I have a history button at the top next to view, bookmarks, etc. What I mean is the small downward pointing triangle icon that used to be next to the right or back arrow. Selecting this recent history button/icon allowed you to go back a few screens.

The small down arrow on the Back/Forward button has been removed in Firefox 4.

• A right-click on the Back/Forward button will show the drop-down list.
• The following add-on will put the down arrow back on the Back/Forward button:

What about the disappearing history? I leave a page and 10 seconds later, I cannot go back to it! I lodged a bug report, but no fix these many days.
