Why are my saved bookmarks randomly not loading on startup even if I have saved them earlier?

Whenever I exit the firefox, I am asked if I want to save the current bookmarks so they will be loaded automatically next time I use the internet. Lately, they haven't been loading automatically even though my laptop is not crashing.

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session.
Use "File > Exit" or "Firefox > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit Firefox") if you want to restore multiple windows.
You can use "History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time.
You may need to click the orange/gray Firefox button to see History.
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default about:home Home page.

Another possibility is to use:

Make sure that you do not use Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox to clear the 'Browsing History' when you close Firefox.

I still have that dialog asking me to save the current session since I asked earlier to still have that option. these are the steps I was tought to do:

1. Type about:config into the location bar and press enter 2. Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences 3. Locate the preference browser.tabs.warnOnClose, if its value is set to false, double-click on it to change its value to true 4. Repeat this for these 3 preferences browser.warnOnQuit, browser.warnOnRestart and browser.showQuitWarning

What are the default settings for these so I can deactivate the dialog and try the steps you mentioned?

You can reset pref that you have changed and that show bold (user set) via the right-click context menu to the default value.

You should see a check box in the pop-up dialog to not get the warning or you can set the pref browser.showQuitWarning to false.
