The vertical bar for scrolling on the right side of the screen has suddenly grown in length and is restricting the ability down the complete page. This is occurring regardless of website, window or page. It only began about five or six days ago, and since then I have downloaded Firefox 5, but the problem continues to persist. Can you please assist me? Thank you.

Could it be that the window is so tall that it runs off the bottom of the screen? Firefox usually will remember the size and position of the last window you close.

To resize your window, try this page (a script in the page will try to resize and reposition the window).

If that doesn't help, maybe someone else will recognize what you're describing. Or you might need to post a screen shot. See how do i take a screen shot? for suggestions on that.

I had a friend of mine, who is far more knowledgeable in computers than I, take a look at the problem, and he came up with the same possibility as yourself. Unfortunately, after checking he stated that page size is normal, and the only other possibility he could think of was that perhaps the Firefox update had some "glitches" that were still being worked out. However, I do thank you for the rapid response. Mike Kearns

You could try using Firefox's Safe Mode to reset your toolbars. Not sure whether this is a toolbar problem, but it's probably worth a try.

First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See Backing up your information. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)

Next, check this article on how to start Firefox in Safe Mode and use the dialog to reset toolbars.

Any luck?

Can you attach a screenshot as already suggested by jscher2000 to be sure that we understand your problem?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed the maximum file size (1 MB).
