Mac Pro OSX 10.4.11. Download said it would not work with this OS version. I called help and they told me how to put back the previous version of Firefox.

Will this one work, I do not want to have to do that again.

We have two Macs on this router at different numbers, The other Mac is running has OSX 10.5.xx

Sorry, Mac OSX 10.4 isn't supported in Firefox 4+ versions, and the 3rd party "community version" - TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 - isn't made for Intel Macs.

Firefox 3.6.19 is the latest version which is compatible with the computer that you used to post here. Looks like you may end up using two different version of Firefox on those two computers.

Thanks, This machine is a Mac Pro1.1 with a dual-core Intel 2 x 2.66 GHz Xeon 8GB memory. It came out just days before Tiger was released.

I was going to upgrade to latest Snow Leopard before Lion, but was put off by all the printer problems. Do you think the latest Snow Leopard will work on it? My printer is an Epson Stylus Photo R2400. Do you have a link about the highest Snow Leapfrog my machine will handle?

I really appreciated the link to the other resource, because it gives alternatives.

Corporates like Microsoft and Apple force users to abandon their still properly working computers and buy upgrades to far above real user needs.

Now Mozilla seems to do the same. My Mac Mini Intel Core Duo with OS 10.4 is still fine to read documents, enjoy pictures, watch movies, read news. Silent, small, remote controlled, far from being obsolete.

Firefox made an automatic update yesterday. Updated to a version that would not run on that machine. So Mozilla killed my software which I could use the day before, killed without asking me and ofering an option. Installed a version automatically, a version that would not run for sure.

Now my question is whether this is a minor technical problem (which I understand easily) or Mozilla's strategy. It would be useful to know. If it is an accident, than it's OK. If it is the way of Apple and Microsoft, the way that will permanently encourage you to throw your well working things away and buy new, than it's time to find an alternative to Mozilla.

Because simply not giving support to old systems is fine, while damaging old systems on purpose is not.
