My cookies window is always up, so I see who is doing what. The "google.com" cookie shows up even though I have not been browsing for 5 to 10 minutes. How come? Is FF sending or requesting some sort of data from Google? If so how can I stop it without adding google to the "Blocked cookies"?

Cookies last for a certain length of time usually having an expiry date. There is nothing unusual with a cookie showing up after you leave a site, that is there usual main purpose: to retain information.
