Firefox 14.01: Java Plugin showing up for admin account only, not for user accounts - how to repair?
I was not using the java plugin for a longer period.
At some point in the past, the java plugin (which i had disabled for years now) COMPLETELY VANISHED from the plugins list and from the addons manager list FOR NORMAL user accounts.
It is STILL AVAILABLE from the ADMIN account, but is seriously not meant to run from there.
In sysinternals sysmon, it is to observe that the registry entries of the java runtime are found from firefox running in user mode. The java runtime (not the absolute last version, but sufficiently up to date 1.7.0_01) is installed correctly and working (for everything from IDE's to any local applications).
The question(s): - How may i repair this situation? - How does Firefox recognize the java runtime (in detail)? - How may i prevent this problem for future updates?
Additional infos:

Notice the difference: In admin mode, after accessing HKLM/.../JRE, it directly goes to open "npdeployJava1.dll". In user mode, it makes mystic headstands to unsuccessfully access some mime database, but doesn't even try to touch the dll at all. Should this have any meaning?

You should first update the Java plugin. Older versions have been blocked from Firefox due to a severe security issue, so updating it should help. Let me know if you still have troubles (make sure you uninstall all older version)

Well, Oracle has just changed their download policy and web gui - to a degree, that no downloads are possible anymore
http://download.oracle.com/errors/download-fail-1505220.html
...P.S.: After a restart of the browser, the download now is available again (without any changes - mysterious!)...
OK, that solved it. Thanks.
Just for curiosity: Du you have some idea, why this plugin was blocked in user mode but not in admin mode? Some config entries possibly? I would prefer to understand the context...
And just another mysteriousness around his: Even another seemingly unconnected plugin "Microsoft Windows Media Services" popped up again in the user mode's plugins list, which obviously had disappeared together with the java plugins. It's unimaginable that this reappearance has anything to do with any update of any java runtimes! Thus, there MUST be any other thing around this case, which was secondarily triggered by the java runtime update...
Could it be that something around the failing java plugin stopped the plugin loading process at all? Without notice to the user?
Maybe it would have been a good idea to have a look at the error console prior to that upgrade. But that's past now. I have a feeling of not having seen this matter the last time...
