I've had this problem for a while now. Each day, when I switch on my computer, load up Firefox and visit Facebook.com, Firefox hangs and my entire computer freezes up for about 15 seconds before finally going to the webpage. During the computer freeze, I can't even move the mouse and the keyboard is unresponsive, until Facebook loads. I don't get the problem again until I shut down my computer and turn it back on again.

I don't get this problem with Google Chrome, and deleting my cookies doesn't solve the problem. I use Firefox version 21.0, but I've been having this problem well before updating to this version of Firefox. Why is this happening?

Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
