Is there any way to be able to select the sound device for HTML5 audio playback
By default, Firefox uses the system's default audio device for HTML5 audio playback and the program offers no possibility to select an alternative audio device, if several audio devices are present on the system.
Therefore, a mechanism to choose the desired playback device within Firefox is desired.
Any solution, which runs within Firefox is welcome (AddOn, Extension, modified Firefox Source Code), with preference for an AddOn/Extension, if feasable.
I did not ask that for flash , since adobe flash is not controlled by firefox. Although it is of much interest for many users as well. But nevertheless, if we find a solution HTML5 it will alleviate most problems like by switching to HTML5 youtube for instance.
Any idea is much welcomed, even if there is a hack in about:config or windows registry.
Many thanks to read my post!

im after this as well. having to change xp default sound device through control panel all the time is slow and thus changes all other programs sound output when not needed.
I HAVE FOUND A SOLUTION at least to firefox browser:
This is a new Firefox addon waiting to be reviewed developed by a friend of mine:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/chaudev/
I have waited this for years.
I wanted to use this when my wife is seeing youtube on her chrome and me seeing anything like coursera online MOOC lectures (FF) on the TV which is connected to the pc. I wanted to hear my classes on the headset and my wife on the speakers for youtube.
I have 2 mouses (one for me wireless) and have installed a neat program which called teamplayer which gives multiple cursors (each cursor for each mouse).
So I have now literally the capability of working 2 persons on 1 pc.
And on top of that it works seamlessly with "Enounce Myspeed" for speeding up the video lectures' playback.
