I want to use Firefox, but if I can't use my favorites it is of no use to me. I followed the instructions to download favorites from Explorer several times but cannot find them.

If there are problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.

If you do not have the menu bar in IE then right-click the toolbar at the top to enable the Menu Bar.

  • Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html):
    File > Import and Export
  • Import the HTML file in Firefox:
Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import Bookmarks from HTML

See "Import from another browser" and "Import from file":

thank you for your help, but it seems that Firefox is just a lot of flash about how easy they are to use, but when it comes down to it, they are just like all the rest. I imported explorer favorites several times and nothing. I am not willing or able to try to download them from one file to another than back to Foxfire. I guess I will stay with explorer. Thanks for trying to help. Bob

In another thread, someone said instead of appearing in a new "Imported" folder, their bookmarks were imported into the "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder. You could check for that, and if they are there copy/paste or drag/drop them to a more useful location, using the Library dialog.

To open the Library dialog, either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+b
  • Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks
