I can't get the addresses from win live mail in a alphabetized list. All I want is Last Name, First Name, email address.

I've never used Live Mail, so this is guessing.

Does it export to CSV, vCard or LDIF files? If so, do this then import those files into Thunderbird.

I've done that but can't seem to get Last name, First name & email address in that order and its not alphabetized.

Thunderbird doesn't list Win Live Mail in the programs that it can get this information from. It lists eudora, outlook & outlook express & the file formats that you mentioned.

Thunderbird's address book uses the display field as name and the email address. Given the display is automatically generated as Given Name + Family Name when the record is entered you have no hope of sorting or displaying lists by Family name, Given name , email.

You can manually modify the display names to be Family Name, Given name which would affect the sort order. But basically your making a lot of work for your self with almost Zero return.

I have a problem sorting first names because they are so common. Last names are less of a problem even though there are duplicates. Thanks anyway.

Perhaps what I said was not clear. You can not sort by last name given name.

The answer your title, Thunderbird does not import from windows live mail. So you must use other means to transfer your data.
