I reformatted my hd. I saved profile before doing this. copied places.sqlite to new profile a couple months after reformat. No old history displayed. Why not

My computer needed to be reformatted. I saved bookmarks, I saved my profile, etc. I reformatted, reinstalled windows, downloaded mozilla firefox. I now have version 32.01. I do not know which versiion I had before. I imported bookmarks. I forgot to import history.

Two months later, I copied my places.sqlite database into the new profile. The history only shows today's history, none of the history from before. (not my old history from several months ago nor the history from yesterday-which i expected to lose--) I then copied the other places files. Same thing happens. How do i get my old history to show.?

Is there some other file I need to copy? Could it be because it is a different version of firefox?

Make sure that you copy the files to the correct location.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\
