I was able to use ebay last night without any problems. But today it does not work.

When I try to go to http://www.ebay.com I get the "The connection was reset" page and I get this in the URL bar: "https://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SignIn&UsingSSL=1&siteid=0&co_partnerId=2&pageType=2050601&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2F".

When I click "Try Again" It either reloads the reset connection page or I get "waiting for signin.ebay.com" at the bottom left for a while then it takes me to the account sign in page on ebay.

If I click the link to ebay.com on the page I go back to the reset connection page, if I try to sign in I go to the reset connection page and this goes in the URL bar: "https://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?co_partnerId=2&siteid=0&UsingSSL=1".

I can go to ebay.com using Chrome but if I go to the sign in page I get "This page is not available"

What gives?

Chosen solution

Yeah I have been searching the internet for some time now and it seems the problem is definitely with ebay not with any web browser.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention a few things.

I tried deleting all my ebay cookies, turning off javascript, and safe mode all to no avail. Also, Firefox updated sometime between now and the last time I was on ebay.

So I deleted my ebay cookies again (even though I have done it like 5 times at this point) and ebay works now BUT I still cant sign in. If I click the link to go to the sign in page It takes a long time to load and when I try to sign in I immediately get "The connection was reset", I "Try again" and "Resend" and go immediately back to "The connection was reset"

I discovered that if I repeat the sign in process eventually I get "waiting for signin.ebay.com" for a while and now Im logged in. What in the world is really going on here...

... turns out I'm not actually logged in. It says "Welcome <myname>" at the top of the page now but it still has a link to "sign in" next to it and if i click on my ebay summary it takes me back to the login page

I think ebay might be where the problem resides

I can't sign in to eBay using either Firefox or Internet Explorer on Win 7 64, so it's hopefully an eBay problem.

Just checked and it is an eBay issue.

I'm having the same problem. It started out as inability to login, I got the message every time I tried to login. Now it's any time I go to the home page. Access and login are fine if I use my Android phone or Internet Explorer.

My version is 29.0.1

From the ebay Customer Support page using IE

"Website issues

Due to a technical issue, some eBay customers may notice a problem with key areas of the eBay website. We're working to resolve this issue and apologize for any inconvenience. Please try completing your transaction at a later time. Thank you."

You can check the connection settings.

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":
