What do I do when I have reset Firefox to recover my bookmarks (which works) and they keep disappearing

Yahoo is my toolbar and Bing is my homepage. When I do the reset, and reload the toolbar, and reset the homepage, everything works for awhile and then all is gone again. Today I noticed that when I clicked on Bookmarks while on an open page there was a pop up message that said it was already bookmarked. What to do, what to do

Just to confirm, there are Yahoo bookmarks and Firefox bookmarks.

For Firefox bookmarks, are they visible in any of these places:

  • Library dialog (Ctrl+Shift+b): you will notice three categories on the left:
    • Bookmarks Menu
    • Bookmarks Toolbar
    • Unsorted Bookmarks (you can move these to the menu or toolbar to have easier access to them)
  • Bookmarks Sidebar (Ctrl+b)
  • New split star/clipboard button on the toolbar, right side
  • Classic Bookmarks Menu (tap the Alt key to show the menu bar)

If they are visible there, are they missing somewhere in particular?

For Yahoo bookmarks, is the problem that the Yahoo! toolbar is not working properly? Are you sure you are logged in to Yahoo when it stops working?

The Yahoo toolbar works except for the bookmarks. I've got my mail, finance, weather, etc. My bookmarks do not show up in Firefox.

Hmm, if you don't get a useful answer here in 24 hours, you may want to ask Yahoo! if there's a known issue.

Also, the version on Yahoo's site usually is more up-to-date than the one on the Mozilla Add-ons page, so if you haven't tried installing from there, you might do that first:

https://us.toolbar.yahoo.com/

Based on the file names, the one on the Add-ons site is from May 7th and the one on Yahoo's site is from August 5th.
