How do I set up Firefox so that every window shows google.com?
I have it set up so it initially goes to google.com. When I open a new window it goes to swagbucks which I want removed. I want google.com in every window that I open. Thanks in advance for your help...
Chosen solution
Please try the following:
- In the address bar, go to "about:config", and click "I'll be careful"
- In the search box, type "browser.newtab.url"
- Double-click on the result, and change the value to "https://google.com/".

A new window opens with the home page(s), so you can check what page(s) are currently set as the home page.
- Tools > Options > General > Startup: Home page

Note that Firefox supports multiple home pages separated by '|' (pipe) symbols.
swagbucks is a known malware virus - and that may be the source of your problem, although it normally presents itself after installation of a toolbar extension. Maybe that disabled FinalVideoDownloader brought it into Firefox? You can search for a fix using remove swagbucks as the search parameter or use the standard malware discovery / removal routine.
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- Anti-Rootkit Utility - TDSSKiller
- AdwCleaner (for more info, see this alternate AdwCleaner download page)
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one. Windows 8 has antivirus built-in already.
