I was filling out the new calender section of Thunderbird options & when I looked for Canberra in the Timezone part it was not there. You listed all the state capitals and even a couple of small cities, but not the the capital city of a continent. I have been a very happy user of Firefox & Thunderbird since my first computer in 2004. Keep up the good work Paul..

Since when has Canberra had it's own time zone? If it makes you feel any better there is no America/Washington DC either for the same reason..

Eastern standard and Eastern daylight saving is what Canberra uses. So Sydney. is the city to follow for timezone information.

  • Lord Howe Island uses UTC+10:30 even though it is part of NSW. Must be something to do with being half way to New Zealand.
  • Lindeman & Currie Not sure how they got their own timezone. But the "holiday islands did talk of Japanese time bacck in the 80s IIRC. King Island. Well they have always considered themselves a sovereign nation anyway..
  • Brisbabe UTC+10 but no Daylight savings. Lots of debate though. But the curtains are still fading in Queensland if it occurs.
  • Sydney UTC+10 but has daylight saving they have trouble leaving alone.
  • Melbourne UTC+10 like Sydney. Daylight saving is a political toy.
  • Hobart Another state where the daylight saving has been under debate for 30 or more years
  • Broken Hill or more precisely Yancowinna County uses central time UTC+9:30 even though it is in NSW
  • Darwin UTC+8:30 but does not necessarily follow the idiosyncracies of what happens in Adelaide.
  • Adelaide utc+9:30 Now these loonies are talking about wandewring off to EST. Might be more timezones in Australia soon. It is still dark at 7oclock now
  • Eucle UTC+8.45 people with the brains to tell the state where to get off. t might not be officially recognised in Australia. but IANA recognise their decision.
  • Perth UTC+8

Wikipedia would answer your question in their articles on the IANA timezone data base https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tz_database

And list the entries. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tz_database_time_zones
