I downloaded the latest version of Firefox and it caused a lot of problems. I received a notice to call Firefox but ignored it, thinking it was a "phish"
I downloaded Firefox latest version and it created problems. I couldn't log in to certain websites, got an error message saying the information I submitted could not be verified. I also got a message that told me to call Firefox, something about pop up ads. I ignored it. Then I started getting a rash of pop ups. The only way i could fix the issue was to do a "system restore" to a previous version of Firefox. Did I get into a site that loaded a virus, or is there a problem with the latest update of Firefox?

Hi, Mozilla (and certainly not Firefox - which is the browser's name) will never ask you to call them, so you are right to be suspicious. What you saw is a scam, and should NEVER be clicked on.
You do not need to use an older version of Firefox.
It seems likely that you have picked up malware, so you can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- Anti-Rootkit Utility - TDSSKiller
- AdwCleaner (for more info, see this alternate AdwCleaner download page)
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Note that not all removal programs will detect all malware, so you may need to run several or all of them.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
When you have cleared any malware, you can also try an ad-blocker add-on like Adblock Plus.
