IF I try to install a new vesrion of firefox it says an older version is still in the process of downloading and I should reboot the PC, but this achieves nothing at all. the Uninstall feature within control panel doesn't work, and If I try to manually launch the uninstaller in C program files that doesn't work either . What next? The pc seems to be functioning with firefox derivative.

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox folders by adding .old to them.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner. Then run the installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.
