Hi, as it was announced already a while ago, recent versions of Firefox now join other modern browsers like Chrome and Edge and cease support for NPAPI-based plugins like Java or Silverlight (with the sole exception of Adobe Flash Player).

You can install the Firefox ESR 52 version which will get security updates into early 2018, to get "more time" using Firefox.

I tried that. Still not finding java in the plugins.

I am using the most recent version of firefox. I tried downloading the work around for java.

If Firefox is not going to support java. Then how are we supposed to view drop down menus and other things when developers still program these items. Don't tell us to just figure it out. Tell the developers.

The only reason I must have have is because I am using your browsers.

My system is up to up to date. I just built it in the last year.

What is the solution. Is there something I need to download. Are developers going to change their coding. Is Firefox going to do something of their own.

There are other things that need attention.

The System Details list next to the question shows multiple Flash plugins.

You can find the installation path of all plugins on the about:plugins page.

You can check the Flash player installation folder for multiple Flash player plugins and remove older version(s) of the plugin (NPSWF32) and possibly (re)install the latest Flash player.

What are you going to use if you no longer support java. Do you have another way to see menus and other items that require an application to work.

Regarding the screenshot mentioning an Enable button, the article is referring to Firefox 20 or below. In newer versions of Firefox, there is a control with three options:

• Always Activate - sites can use the plugin without specific permission
• Ask to Activate - sites need permission to use the plugin (useful for controlling annoying autoplay, and minimizing the risk of attacks on questionable sites)
• Never Activate - disabled and hidden from sites

Is the problem with drop-down control (https://prnt.sc/fovers) on a page you can give us a link to, to try to get a better sense of why that box is blacked out? It may have nothing to do with the Java plugin.

It is EVERY site on EVERY dropdown menu.

Just to be clear, when you say dropdown menu, you mean form controls like this one:

As you arrow up and down, is the selected item visible but the other items are unreadable?

Are you using Multiprocess (e10s)?

Multiprocess creates additional firefox.exe or plugin-container.exe process(es) to isolate the web content from the browser UI. You can check whether you have this feature turned on as follows. Either:

• "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
• (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
• type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the first table on the page, check the row for "Multiprocess Windows" and see whether the number on the left side of the fraction is greater than zero. If so, you are using e10s.

If you are using e10s:

To help evaluate whether that feature is causing problems, you could turn it off as follows:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste autos and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2 preference to switch the value from true to false

Note: the exact name of the preference may vary, but it will start with browser.tabs.remote.autostart

At your next Firefox startup, it should run in the traditional way. Any difference?
