I lost my tabbed groups, where are they?

Got an automatic update to FF57 and I lost all my tabbed groups and can't find them anywhere. I'm switching to Opera or maybe Chrome as Opera isn't doing so well with tabbed groups. I was going to even give money to Mozilla... not anymore! Somebody made some bad decisions. Seeya.

Hello kreetsakratsa,

You may have been using an out of date version of your Tab Group add-on.

Can you give this one a try: Tab Group Switch

Cheers, Patrick

Looks like there is a alternative as per above.

Unfortunately going back to 56.0.2 is no longer safe to use for every day use, but 52 ESR is! It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ and use all extensions.

Support Volunteers can't make changes to Firefox and the developers do not directly monitor this site. To submit suggestions for new or changed features, may I suggest:

Feedback: https://qsurvey.mozilla.com/s3/FirefoxInput/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Firefox Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/firefox

There also is a forum run by the Add-ons team where you may see talk about potential future capabilities of extensions to modify the UI (initially limited to colors, I think, but perhaps more down the road): https://discourse.mozilla-community.org/c/add-ons

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Hey Patrickmc and Pkshadow, Thanks for the response. I have already switched to Chrome. Goog has a Tabbed Group extension while not as good as Tab Groups by Quicksilver, it's OK. How does a group of intelligent programmers tell over 86 thousand users of Tab Groups to EF off? I don't get it. Yes you have to keep your software up to date with all the hackers/crackers/dufies/criminals ad nauseam and then there's innovation and competition. Something should have been done to help this lone programmer (what seems to be a lone programmer) to port his Add-on. How many other add-ons got dumped? Why is Chrome 60%+ marketshare and Firefox 6-13% (source Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usage_share_of_web_browsers ). I had 51 links in about 10+ Tab groups and they're gone and yes I used them all. I am slowly rebuilding in Chrome and I am very upset about this - I can't swear enough about this. Code could have been written and placed at the start of the install of FF57 scanning for Add-ons that will be disabled and put up a message: "You will loose your Add-on and all its functionality, do you want to upgrade now? I will be going to the Mozilla feedback site for Firefox and paste what I have written here.

This is really frustrating. I have installed the new version 57 - Quantum - it actually updated automatically. Only to find all my grouped tabs have been removed.I have now installed the add on as suggested above and have lost my original opening group. Can anyone tell me how to recover the groups. I am assuming they are backed up as part of my previous vesion somewhere on my computer?

Update has removed tab groups, suggested remedial measures don't work. I rely on tab groups, am currently using Ubuntu 17.10. Today's update to Ubuntu updated firefox to v57, which has removed access to my existing tab groups. Your online documentation says the tab group info has been saved in the bookmarks toolbar, and that the sites can be visited from that toolbar. But I cannot find any 'bookmark' icon : see the screenshot below. In the end, I have had to revert to v56 so that I can carry on working. I looked through the 'alternatives' to tab groups; mentions a feature called Conex, but I can find no further reference to this when searching Extensions.
