Gmail had many thousands of emails dating back years - I deleted all these, but that deleted the emails on TBrid. Luckily I have a backup of the TBird email files, but when I copy these across, all that happens is when TBrid syncs with Gmail, the emails on TBird are again deleted. This means I can not upload the email to Gmail, and can not view them on TBird either - Of course it is fine for any new emails received, but How can I upload my previous emails to gmail without them being deleted ? Thanks for your help.

Please read up about IMAP.

The work out exactly what it is you want to do.

Personally, I don't understand the idea of storing emails somewhere where you can't see them.
