Why can't I access Southwest.com any longer?
I can open the website, but it is no longer functional. It is now difficult to search flights to make a reservation, or to access details about my account.

I tried all of the suggestions above - nothing works.
Quoting you :
"I discovered that the problem is that the site requires javascript to work"
The first part of cor-el's post covers that .....
If none of the above work, the maybe you'd like to give this a try :
Disable graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.
You will need to restart Firefox for this to take effect so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.,) and then perform these steps:
In Firefox 54 and below:
- Click the menu button and select Options (Windows) or Preferences (Mac, Linux).
- Select the Advanced panel and the General tab.
- Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.
- Close Firefox completely and then restart Firefox to see if the problem persists.
In Firefox 55 and above:
- Click the menu button and select Options (Windows) or Preferences (Mac, Linux).
- Select the General panel.
- Under Performance, uncheck Use recommended performance settings. Additional settings will be displayed.
- Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.
- Close Firefox completely and then restart Firefox to see if the problem persists.

Hello cfans! Can you please describe your problem a bit closer? If it is generally slow, with long loading times, the servers at Southwest may have a lot of traffic at this time and there is nothing we can do about that and you just have to wait until the problem fixes itself. I hope this helps, and if it did, please mark this question as solved.
The site opens in Firefox on my laptop, but it won’t display my account info or search flights. The site works just fine on my iPad, so it must be a problem with Firefox (or Windows?), not Southwest.com. It has been this way for a number of weeks, but it always worked well on the laptop prior to that.
I'm terribly sorry I got your question wrong the first time. Have you installed any Add-ons that may have caused this? If so, try starting Firefox in "Safe mode" by quitting Firefox, and when reopening, hold Shift (Windows) or option (MacOS). Please get back to me if this hasn't solved your problem.
It didn't work. I discovered that the problem is that the site requires javascript to work, and it seems Firefox no longer allows javascript. If so, that explains why it used to work flawlessly, and why it still works in Safari.
Seems odd that there isn't a seamless workaround. I'll research using a different browser if the issue can't be fixed.
I am glad you could fix the problem on your own! I came up with this more permanent solution that may help: in the address bar type "about:config", press the button (I can't tell you what it says because my Firefox is set to German), and search for "javascript". Check if the "enable.javascript" option is enabled. If it isn't, double click to enable it again. Hope this helps! If you have anything to add to this, please do so, if not, please mark your or my fix as the answer.
JavaScript is builtin and enabled by default.
If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block (wanted) content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block (wanted) content.
- make sure your extensions and filters are updated to the latest version
There is Tracking Protection that can block (wanted) content, so check the location/address bar for special icons.
You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
- hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
- press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
- press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and remove the cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).
"Clear the cache:
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove the cookies" from websites that cause problems.
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> "Use custom settings for history" -> Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
I tried all of the suggestions above - nothing works.
Why is Mozilla not taking part in this conversation to resolve the issue? Surely I can’t be the only one with this problem.
