The keyboard shortcuts for message tags does not work, and the list in the tag selection is empty, but tag management has all my tags defined. Why?

Lightning was constantly pinging my employer's EWS server, causing my account to be locked. I disabled the Lightning extension, and my account is no longer locked. However, I can no longer use keyboard shortcuts 1-9 to assign tags to e-mail messages, the list of tags obtained when selecting the tag button is now empty, but the tag management option displays a dialog with all of my defined tags. How do I get back the ability to select tags for a message and more importantly, assign using keyboard shortcuts? I have tried running a repair on my folder as suggested in "My inbox displays 12 emails, but the total emails on the bottom states 15. I have no filters engaged. Why the discrepancy?" but that did not resolve the tag issues.

I tried the safe-mode, and indeed Thunderbird works, but the Lightning and Exchange EWS Provider are needed to connect to my work calendar. What is interesting is that disabling the Lightning and keeping the EWS addon running disables all the tag keyboard short-cuts. When I disable both, the tag keyboard short-cuts work fine. When I run Lightning with the EWS disabled, tags still work but I'm unable to connect to my work e-mail. So the culprit is not Lightning, but the Exchange EWS Provider addon. Considering this addon is a recently developed one, and one that is needed, I guess I have to follow-up with the developer with the issues.

For those of you having a similar issue, it seems someone disabled the tag operations under the Exchange EWS Provider, because it was thought this was causing issues and that no one was tagging e-mail. Unfortunately, that caused the keyboard short-cuts that I was using to fail, and all other tagging of emails. There has been some discussion about an updated beta version of the EWS addon, but I'm unsure if it is out of beta and being distributed for general usage. Anyone else know of a fix to the EWS addon that does not hose the Microsoft exchange servers and enables tagging?

Just to be precise, since the versions of TB, Lightning and the EWS add-on are important, can you list the versions you have?

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/lightning/

https://github.com/ExchangeCalendar/exchangecalendar/releases

Have you posted this question in the Issues section of the second link?

Another add-on to sync EAS calendars etc. is TBSync.

The version of Lightning that was being used is 5.4. The version of the Exchange EWS Provider that was being used is 4.0.1002

I have not posted any other questions, because I disabled both to get work done. However, I will post the question.

Thank you for the information about TBSync!
