Today I upgraded to Thunderbird 52.7.0. Since doing so, the folder list on the left shows the number of unread messages in each folder but they are no longer in bold. Also any new messages are also not highlighted in bold and color, making it hard to see where new messages are. I have quite a few email accounts and some have subfolders controlled by filters, so when I get an alert about a new email it is now hard to find. I have restarted Thunderbird several times and have restarted the computer, but the problem remains.

Chosen solution

Thanks Matt,

Repair did not help however restarting in Safe Mode did, allowing me to identify that the problem is caused by the Add-on "Extra Folder Columns" which I have now disabled.

try right clicking the folder, selecting properties and then repair.

Try restarting in (see Thunderbird Safe Mode) and see if it is an add-on that did not make the update.

Update 52.7.0 Now to see messages in the folder I first must "click" on the folder, then the messages begin to list.

Thunderbird 52.7.0 not showing messages in Junk/Spam folders until selected?
