For example, I want to create a universal filter that deletes all mail over 60 days old from my inbox and all folders that I've created for an account automatically when I manually run filters. How would I do this?

If you want this to occur automatically without the need to create and run filter:

  • right click on mail account in Folder Pane and select 'Settings'

Pop accounts:

  • Account Settings > Disc Space

Imap accounts:

  • Account Settings > Synchronisation & storage
  • Disc Space section
  • select checkbox: delete messages more than 60 days
  • click on OK

Otherwise as a message filter which is manually run on mail account.

  • Menu icon > Message filter > Message filter
  • click on 'New'
  • Give filter suitable name eg: del 60
  • select 'Manually run'
  • Select 'Match all of the following'
  • select 'Age in days' and 'is greater than' enter 60

Perform these actions:

  • Delete Message

Note if message is still on server for a pop mail account you can also select:

  • Delete from pop server
  • click on OK

When you want to run it Select that filter (make sure it is enabled) select to run filter on the mail account or specific folder click on 'Run Now'
