Why does FireFox Sync only offer apps for Android or IOS smartphones? I use a Microsoft Lumia 950 and I dont want to buy a Android or IOS mobile phone. Why is there no hint for users of a Microsoft mobile phone? I understand that you need a second device for confirming my identity. But what shall I do, because I dont want to buy a new mobile with Android or IOS installed. Wich kind of device shall I use for this second step during creating the new account for FireFox Sync?

Chosen solution

To begin with, you don't need a mobile phone to use Firefox Sync on computers or laptop devices, Sync works fine between multiple computers / laptops.

Mozilla just does not support the Windows Phone OS in any way, shape, or form. Not a large enough user base.

IMO, part of the issue is that there just isn't a large enough market for the amount of work involved, a 2nd time. Mozilla was "burned" very badly 8 to 9 years ago with Windows CE; massive amount of time developing for CE and then just before that new version of the CE OS was slated for release, Windows "changed gears" and dumped it. After that Mozilla decided to create Firefox OS for Android mobile devices. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefox_OS

Actually the mobile browser Minimo https://www-archive.mozilla.org/projects/minimo/ for Windows CE and Windows mobile years ago was more of an experiment as then switch to developing a mobile Firefox for Android since then.

Firefox OS was their own attempt at a OS for low cost phones for a time.

Due to Apple's restrictions the Firefox browser for iOS is a shell as it does not use the Browser and JavaScript Engines as used on Android and desktop.
