Can't add, edit or delete calendar events, or snooze or dismiss reminders

The calendar is NOT "read-only" in preferences. However: My T-bird profile got corrupted. I copied a recent backup of the Thunderbird profile into the live profile which restored most of the emails.

But I did not keep the older calendar-data directory from the backup. I copied the CURRENT calendar-data directory (from the corrupted profile) into the restored profile. All the recent events (since the backup) are shown in the calendar but I can't add, edit, delete events; nor dismiss or snooze reminders. There is no error message - the action is simply not executed.

I removed Lightning and reinstalled - no change.

Thx in advance.

Found a fix - 1) exported WHOLE calendar to an ics file, using: {Events+Tasks}{Export} 2) Closed TB 3) In the profile directory, I removed the calendar-data directory (actually renamed it to calendar-data-hold) 4) Re-opened TB - calendar was empty. 5) IMported the ics file {Events+Tasks}{Import} ... the import took SEVERAL MINUTES, during which time TB prompted several times, "a script may be busy or stopped - stop it now, or continue to see if it will complete?" ... I kept clicking "continue."
