I followed the instructions in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_Inbox_when_starting_Thunderbird to modify a desktop shortcut to ensure that TB opens in a specific folder (Inbox of a specific a/c in this case) at start-up.

The shortcut Target is modified into the form "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" -mail mailbox://someone@pop.gmail.com/Inbox as the KB article specifies (the actual address of the a/c is substituted for someone@pop.gmail.com).

However TB still opens in the last folder used regardless. Is there a way of getting this functionality to work?

Thanks.

If you're using 32-bit TB in 64-bit Windows, the correct path is to Program Files (x86); it's Program Files for TB 64-bit (not the official release).

The startup folder can also be set with the Manually sort folders add-on.

Edit: Your title says you're using TB 64-bit, which makes my first statement incorrect if in fact it's the 64-bit version.

That extension you mentioned does the job just fine, thanks.
