Emails from some senders aren't showing in inbox
On occasion, particular messages don't show up in my inbox. The inbox shows that there's an unread message in the inbox, but the message is nowhere to be found. I sort by unread and it still doesn't show up. This happens with one particular sender that I'm aware of and has happened with this sender's past few emails. I can open up the email in web browser of Outlook and see the message there on those, but not Thunderbird.

Sorry, I meant web browser or Outlook.
The messages must be corrupted in some way that stops them being downloaded to TB. It's a common problem where one or more messages blocks retrieval of all subsequent, uncorrupted messages. The remedy is to access the account via webmail and delete the blocking message.
Is there anything unusual about the format of this sender's messages, e.g. attachments, signature?
In the person's signature there are two different colors of fonts and a picture attached. That's the same every time the person sends an email, but I'm new to Thunderbird and haven't received an email properly from her since switching. Now that I look at it, the whole conversation strain doesn't show on inbox and it's 20 messages long or so. How would I be able to tell which is the blocking message?
I do notice that when I search for this person's messages, all messages show up in the search.
After searching solutions for the corrupted message that you mentioned, I found the 'Repair Folder' function. Once I did that it fixed it and all the messages showed up. Thank you very much for your help.
