How to change that a mp3 file opens in VLC instead of in the browser?

I often work with mp3 files in VLC and I would like to change the browser to open an mp3 file in VLC instead of inside Firefox. I can not find any help how to add file types in the list of files that shows in Settings/General. I've tried both Swedish and English FAQ without finding an answer. Thank you in advance.

Open the computer's file browser. Locate that type of file and right-click on it. Select Properties. Under General, look for Opens With and press Change.
