I moved my dovecot (imaps) from Linux (Debian 11) to OpenBSD 7.1. Since then Thunderbird (running on Linux or MacOS) is *extremely* slow in updating the list of available EMails. Sometimes it takes 20 seconds or more to select another folder. Highly annoying. Using seamonkey or others instead of thunderbird there is no such problem.

How comes?

Every helpful hint is highly appreciated.

Apparently the max number of file handles for dovecot configured in /etc/login.conf is reduced(!) in /etc/login.conf.d/dovecot.
