Inline Video Display is Distorted
Hello, When I view some pages with inline video graphics, I see a garbled video frame. I have attached a screen grab from part of one screen. I have no issues with YouTube or other videos. It's just the graphics of some webpages such as looking at an Apple product on their site. I have not had this issue using Chrome under the same conditions. It's like I have a corrupted Codec or something. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Hello Jon, OK a couple of days now with no issues. I think turning off hardware acceleration is the solution. Thanks! Michael

What OS? What version of Firefox? What site(s)? You need to provide links so we can try to replicate the issue?
Hello Jon, This is a late reply due to the holiday.
- Windows 11 23H2
- 133.0.3
- Multiple sites including YouTube and Apple. Only videos appearing inside a frame. Clicking to watch the video directly from YouTube has no errors. This is an intermittent issue. It doesn't happen every time. I can save the links as this happens going forward.
Thank you. Michael
Can we get hardware info? If not DIY, what make and model computer? What graphics card and driver? Windows home or pro?
Sure. Not DIY: It's a Dell Inspiron 16 7640 2-in-1 ARC Graphics v32.0.101.6127 Windows 11 Home 23H2 It's a brand new laptop. -- Michael
Dell drivers for your laptop. https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/inspiron-16-7640-laptop/drivers I see this driver from Intel https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/785597/intel-arc-iris-xe-graphics-windows.html You can also run this Intel tool to get their updates. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html How about nvidia? https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/

Thank you. I will try updating my graphics driver and keep you posted. -- Michael
Hello, No graphic drivers found. I think I should contact Dell since this is a new laptop. However, not having this issue with Chrome. So I wonder why Firefox is having this issue? I noticed when I load in some web pages I get the distorted video picture, and now the whole Firefox tab stalls as well. Michael

Hello, The problem is happening every time I go to this page: https://www.apple.com/iphone-16-pro/ The top video goes garbled.
I tried installing some extra video codecs, but that didn't help. I just updated Firefox, the issue still persists. I emptied my cache and cookies. Still nothing is working.
Is ARC graphics kinda new? Maybe there is some incompatibility here?
Michael
Only Intel, no nvidia? How about on an external monitor? There is a newer driver from Intel. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/785597/intel-arc-iris-xe-graphics-windows.html

Hello, My graphics isn't made by Nvidia. I tried an external monitor and had the same problem. I just installed the new Intel driver you linked me to. Same issue. Thanks, Michael
Modified
WOW! Where did you get Firefox from? Shot in the dark, but try a different version and make sure to install in a different directory than your current install.
Hello Jon,
Suspecting that this is a compatibility issue with my ARC graphics, I did a search on Google:
"ARC graphics having issues with Firefox."
The Ai responded: "If you're experiencing issues with Firefox while using Intel Arc graphics, it's likely due to known compatibility problems where the graphics card may not fully support hardware acceleration in Firefox, leading to graphical glitches, artifacts, or performance issues; this is often reported as a known issue by Intel and can be addressed by updating your graphics drivers, disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox settings, or potentially waiting for further driver updates to fully optimize compatibility."
Thanks to you I now have the latest graphic drivers. I used the Intel link you sent. I just turned off hardware acceleration in Firefox and it seems to be working. I'm not experiencing my issue. However, as computers are, this might be a temporary fix. I will report back in awhile and let you know if my issue is solved.
Thanks,
Michael

Yep! I will post again when I am sure the issue has been fixed. - Michael
Michael, I am having the same issue with my new Dell Inspiron 16 7640 2-in-1. After spending several hours with Dell Support, they sent me to a local Asurion shop. The tech there diagnosed as a problem with Firefox as you have documented here. Looking for a solution, I found your question on this forum. I followed this thread and turned off the hardware acceleration. That seems to have fixed the issue.
Thank you for your question and to all those who posted possible solutions. I think turning off the hardware acceleration is the short term solution.

Hello Cris, Glad my solution worked for you as well. I agree that this is a temporary fix. I think the problem is that ARC graphics is relativity new right now so current code hasn't had the chance to test yet. - Michael
