I no longer have spellcheck capabilities in FF. It works in MSIE, Outlook and Word. I get a strange and elongated rightclick option list.

This happened

Every time Firefox opened

The Firefox spellcheck system isn't integrated with Word, Outlook or IE but is a separate system in Firefox itself.

If you right-click in an entry field, there should be a Spell check entry in the context menu - enable it by clicking it; if active, it should have a checkmark besides it.

If you use several languages, you can use the Dictionary Switcher add-on to switch between spell check languages.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes). See Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems and Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears. You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions. You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Thanks for the replies.

STRANGE. As you can see from my screen cap, something was messing FF up. The available options when right-clicking were numerous and seemed to be more appropriate for the Firebug plugin than straight FF. I'd deactivated all my FF plugins and nothing worked. What in the world were PLAY, PAUSE, MUTE AND UN-MUTE doing in there? This morning the machine did not wake from a sleep state normally, so I hit reset and after a prolonged reboot, I investigated the issue, then unchecked and checked "check spelling" which all of a sudden reappeared as an option.. and it started working as normal again. If you think I'm making all this up.. just take a peak at my screen cap from yesterday. THAT ain't normal.
