Is there a way to disable all updating in Firefox across all user profiles? From what I see, disabling it via tools options only works for the currently logged in user. About:config seems to do the same thing. I don't want my users to be prompted (or even know) when an update takes place or is required. I'd need more central control over the update process.

You can lock the pref app.update.enabled (and app.update.auto) to false. See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locking_preferences
