Why do I get "Server not found" on certain ads and the ads don't show?

On some websites, the ads that are supposed to ordinarily show (not pop-ups) won't load. The message "server not found" shows. Why and what do I do to enable the ads to show?

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
