Upgrade to Firefox now defaults to a proxy server setting - how do I stop this???
I use Windows XP and Earthlink is my internet provider. About a week ago I downloaded the upgrade to Firefox. Since that time, everytime I connect to the internet I get the error that Firefox is trying to connect thru a proxy server - I do NOT work thru a proxy server. I have to go into internet options in my control panel, go to connections and remove the proxy server checks in both the dial-up settings and the LAN settings. THIS DID NOT NEED TO BE DONE PRIOR TO THE UPGRADE!! I tried to go back in my computer settings to a date prior to the upgrade, but that did not change anything. HELP!! What can I do to stop Firefox from defaulting to a proxy server setting???? Earthlink tells me that this is not an Earthlink problem, that it is being caused by the Firefox explorer.

You can find the connection settings in Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select "No Proxy"
See "Firefox connection settings":
I do that every time I have to log on to the internet. Unfortunately, the settings do NOT keep! Is there any way to keep the proxy server settings from defaulting? And why did this start after upgrading Firefox?? This did not happen before I upgraded!! THANKS!
Very helpful!!! THANKS!!!
