How to I find Firefox profile directory & user_pref file to allow cut,copy paste options

Trying to copy a word document to a new page I am creating for our website mtadl.com. used to be able to do this all the time. Firefox told me that the cut, copy and paste options are unavailable. it tells me to locate Firefox profile directory and what changes to make in user_pref file. I have no idea where to find or access this file. Using VISTA operating system
