searchqu has propogated itself everywhere as my defaults. I have fixed everything except when I open a new tab, it is set as the default site. I can see it in about:config, but I don't know how to change it. Changing the target site for starting firefox does not change this location as I've already changed that setting.

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).

You can middle-click or hold down Ctrl and left-click the Home button on the Navigation toolbar to open the Home page in a new tab.

You can look at this extension to set which page to open in a new tab:

This did not solve the problem. The virus search engine "searchqu" has installed itself everywhere in all my browsers. I have eradicated it from everything except when firefox opens a new tab, which now always goes to the searchqu website.

I tried the newTabURL and it made no difference.

I understand that I can create a new tab by Ctrl Home on the toolbar, but what I need is to change the initial site a tab goes to when you click on the "open a new tab" button on the toolbar. How do I do that?
