After changing to F-Secure virus protection some (but not all) streaming sites now have a long lag (up to 15 minutes) for audio.

I switched from Norton to F-Secure and a radio stream that was okay before now takes about 15 minutes to start broadcasting and continues the lag. If I do refresh it again takes a long time to start. This does not happen on all streaming sites.

As described by you, this sounds like a problem with F-Secure:

  • "After changing to F-Secure..."

Not related to your question, but...

You may need to update some plug-ins. Check your plug-ins and update as necessary:

I disabled F-Secure and still had the problem, so it actually seems to be related to Firefox. Can you test the site (http://player.rock101.com/) and tell me if you have the same lag?

That site works fine here (playing uninterrupted for approximately 15 minutes now with Firefox 9.0.1 on my XP system, so it is not a Firefox problem). I do not use F-Secure or Norton.

Disabling a security application does not usually stop all functions as drivers loaded by the application will remain active and may reload even after a reboot of your system.

Did you use the Norton removal tool to be sure that all remnants of Norton were off of your system before installing F-Secure? If not, that could result in a conflict on your system; this applies to most/all security programs as most have a complete removal tool.

I used the Norton removal tool. I had Norton on several machines and replaced it with F-Secure. On one computer I use IE9 and the site streams correctly.

That site is still streaming without interruption on my XP system with Firefox 9.0.1 (good music, I have saved that link as a Bookmark. Thanks).

I suggest again that you post on the F-Secure forum as it could be blocking something.

The only thing that I had to do on my system (with very tight Firewall, and multi-layered routers) was to temporarily allow sites in NoScript. (rock101.com and streamtheworld.com)

Sorry, but I really have no other suggestions for you.
