After the most recent upgrade: 1. I don't have an 'x' in the tab bar to close the tab with. 2. when I click on the top rh corner to close tab there, the tab stay open although not visible. 3. once i close firefox, i cannot reopen without restarting my computer.

You can close a tab with a middle click on that tab.

If you want to re-unable 'x' in the each tab

type in the address bar about:config

then press the button i'll be careful i promise

then type in bar browser.tabs.closeButtons (or copied from here)

then right click on it , select modify, and put 1, click OK

exit firefox and restart-it.
