Firefox just FORCED me to upgrade to V12, I did not want it, I did not ask for it, I was quite happy with the legacy version I had before. I gather I am luckier than some as it has retained my menu and the New Tab option rather the than the stupid + sign.

What is driving me NUTS is the stupid transparent menubar, I need the contrast of a background as my vision is not at its best, also the font is too small.

WHY can't they offer a bunch of tick boxes for all the features they change so that I can actually see the menu.

Even with this stupid update they are not giving me a memory management system that allows me to see which tabs are hogging memory.

It will be interesting to see if it still leaks memory as all previous versions did. Just load firefox, open 5 windows, then load 20 youtube videos in different tabs, look at the memory in task manager and see how you do not get it back when you close those tabs and windows.

You have to kill task firefox in task manager and then start it up and hope that you get a restore session.

So if you can help me get rid of the transparency of the toolbars and set them to grey without having to rewrite firefox I would be grateful.

First, I would update to Firefox 13. It has plenty of memory usage improvements. After you do that, you can go to about:memory to quickly view that memory that Firefox is using.

Now if you'd like the grey background in Firefox 13, try using a persona like http://www.getpersonas.com/en-US/persona/306435. You can also read https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/926330, which is a user in much the same situation as you, who wanted to make Firefox 13 look the same as 3.6.
