This has been happening since FF 13. OS is Win server 2008 R2.

Flash plugin is updated automatically. As soon as any page with flash is loaded, firefox hangs. No way to get it to respond no matter how long I wait. Have to manually end process.

Same behaviour continues in FF 14.

I keep plugin disabled, but it is enabled sometimes after updating, and FF again hangs when flash is encountered.

Very frustrating.

i noticed you have the quake live plugin installed. If you haven't already disable this plugin by going to your plugins, disabling, and restarting firefox and verify if the crash or issue is fixed or reoccurs. If the problem still exists post back and further solutions can then be suggested/attempted.

You can check for problems caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and possibly downgrade to Flash 11.2 or 10.3 or disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 or disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin.

The QL plugin does not interact with flash in anyway, and is only ever loaded if I go to the quakelive website.

In any case, the problem still happens with the plugin disabled.

Firefox never crashes exactly, it just hangs until I forcibly kill the process.

None of the crashes in about:crashes correspond to a date when Firefox hung because of the flash plugin being enabled.

I don't want to downgrade my version of flash, as that would leave my PC vulnerable to vulnerabilities in prior versions.

I will try disabling protected mode and report back.

OK, setting protectedmode=0 has solved the issue!
