I cannot get rid of Firefox crashing. I tried resetting and starting in Safe Mode, but it keeps crashing and "Not Responding" when I open it up and go to any site's first page. Should I reinstall even though it was done 2 months ago? How do I uninstall and reinstall completely while keeping our Bookmarks? I very much appreciate any help!

If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more crash reports that have this format:

  • bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx

You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the about:crashes page.

  • You can open the about:crashes page via the location bar, like you open a website.

I have never gotten a crash report. I guess it's more accurate to say that it just stops working with a "Not Responding" message. I then have to close Firefox, and Windows puts a window on saying it's trying to find a solution (which never comes) and I have to close that window out. Is it easier just to uninstall/reinstall and save Bookmarks? Thanks!

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that works.

You can try a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.

Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.

  • Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.

Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.
