I just installed the most recent Java update and ever since my browser has been sluggish at times and locks up on some pages. I'm assuming the java update is the root cause because I didn't have the locking up problem before the update. I've always have had a bit of a slowness issue with Firefox, but I always assumed it was because of the age of my PC, but this is a whole new sluggishness all together.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Thank you for your reply. I went through the reset/restore and I still hang up on some web pages. What I mean by hang up is that I'll click on a link and go to return back and it is like it is stuck on that page. The wheel thing just sits and spins and spins and nothing happens for several minutes. I usually end up closing and restarting Firefox.

Like I said, it didn't do this until I downloaded the Java update the other day and while I was at it I decided to update Firefox too and this issue started.
